Imperialism in Africa
Imperialism in Africa will be horrible for Africa and its culture. People will be taken into slavery. The natural resources of Africa will be depleted. Gold and rubber will be stolen from Africa. Culture will be destroyed because with all of the British, Germans, French and many other people arriving to claim their land, they will bring their culture and destroy Africa's. They might bring their clothing and food and force it upon the Africans and force them to change.

Do Now-Africa
In my opinion, Europeans became interested in Africa because of its resources. They found gold, rubber, and many their resources that they thought that they could use. They also may have became interested because it was an area that they had never seen much of before. Based on African proverbs and the movie roots, I think that slavery will have a bad effect on African society. The African people will be taken from their tribes and abused. Their resources and culture will be destroyed.

Roots
Roots shows many aspects of African culture. A large part of culture was loyalty and respect. The main character is herding his sheep when a jaguar comes and kills one of the sheep. He fights the jaguar off but has to tell his father what happened. He tells his father and his father is disappointed in him. He also has to do many chores for his father. It shows that respect for elders is a large part of life. An element of folklore is when they talk about the warthog. The teacher tells a story about a warthog. In the end, the warthog has a lot of courage and never gives up. The warthog is compared with the main character. These events have great importance to society because they teach people respect. It teaches people to respect others and wildlife.

Folklore-Rainforest
A boy and his tribe have been starved for many days so he decides to go and kill an elephant. He is successful and brings the carcass back for the tribe to eat. The boy was still hungry for meat. He went to sit by his traps and decided that the next ting he caught would be for just him to eat alone. As he sa, a woman spirit and her child were coming down the path. She let her child go and the child got caught in a trap. The boy ate the child and the spirit got upset and screamed. She disrupted the rest of the tribe.
The African elements were incorporated by the setting. The boy was in Africa and kills an elephant that live in Africa.
It was entertaining because you knew what was going to happen after he said he was going to catch the next thing.
The myth taught that the Africans must have respect for animals and not kill for personal pleasure or bad things will happen.
I could tell myself to respect animals and try to not take more than what I need.

Wonders of Africa
1) The Niger River is one of the three great riviers of Africa. It starts at Guinea and goes down to the Sahara and through Mali. It's coatsal delta is giant and is 35000 square kilometers and is the largest in Africa. The inland delta has been of vital importance since 300 A.D.. It has been used for fisherman, farmers, rice agriculturists, and cattle grazers. This river creates fertile land that is necesary to grow food. It is used for transportation and for farming. I never knew how important the Niger river actually is.
2) The City of Great Zimbabwe is most famous for its stone wall fotress. Zimbabwe actually means stone walled. The lost city once held 18,000 people. The surrounding land was slightly hilly and grassy. It had great cattle and agricultural surplus. The city was abandoned in the late 15th century. It was most likely because of lack of water sources, exhaustion of the local gold, and the disruption of the Indian Ocean trading sphere by the Portuguese. This was once a large and great city.
3)The Vodou religion was brought to America during the slave trade and many of the beliefs we know of today were misinterpreted. Vodou origionated in the ancient kingdom of Dahomey. It derives from the word god. It has nothing to do with stick pins into dolls. It provides meaning for the natural and supernatural forces. Vodou is a monotheistic religion where the god is Mawu-Lisa. Posession is very important. People get rid of their materiality to become spirits and renew their spirits by dancing and feasting.
Africa a much different from what I thought before. It was interesting to see some things about the lost cities. I cant believe how we misinterpreted Vodou. I feel so stupid for thinking that Vodou was poking pins into dolls and turning people into zombies. The Niger River s very important to the area and supplies their crops. Africa's history goes back very far and did not always have poor coutries and illness.

Africa
When I think of Africa, I think of imperialism. Throughout history and our social studies classes, we have see Africa imperialized by many countries. They are taken, split up, and given to other countries. I also think of a very poor area that does not have a lot of food or water. I see a lot of danger. I think of people speaking of Africa that it is all one country. It has many countries that have tribes that have fought for many years. I have also pictured of tribes getting weapons and giving them to kids. These things come to my mind because it is what I have seen on TV and in social studies class.

Obsession-Allah above all
Many Islamic people say that they want to Islamize the world. In doing so the destroy churches and temples. They did something that was very disturbing. They burned the cross and held t up for all to see. They said that they are better than all other religions. They took the American flag and tore it apart. Everyone around joined in. They want Islam to be the only religion on the face of the earth. If they want there to be peace, then they must speak up and stop the terrorism.
Can there be peace when they believe that Allah must be above all?
Can there be peace when they believe that Allah must be above all?
Obsession-History wll repeat itself
Nazi Germany killed many people and gained a lot of land through propaganda. When the video looked at the pictures of nazi soldiers and of Muslim soldiers, they were strangely similar. They showed pictures of nazi propaganda and Muslim propaganda. They were very similar and used the same images. They teach ids that they should be suicide bombers. There was footage of a little girl who was singing a song that said she would become a suicide bomber when she grows up. There was a TV show made that said that Jewish people needed children's blood to make matza. They use lies to make people hate the west. The nazis used similar propaganda to get what they want.
How can people believe these lies?
How can people believe these lies?
Obsession-Hatred of America and Britain
The the members of the Jihad do so very upsetting things in this video. They take an American flag and put it on the ground. They stomped on the flag. They began to chant "Bomb USA" and "USA, you will pay". We read an article in class about the hatred of America and I thought it was just because of our way of life. I dont see how this can be when they are stomping on American flags. The hatred of Britain is just as strong. People are convincing British muslims to move from Britain and come to Pakistan to kill British soldiers. They are using the US laws and democracy against us. They used US education to learn how to take down the world trade center.

Obsession
The Islamic terrorists have a lot of propaganda. In the video they have songs saying that George Bush is satan. They have footage of people being told at a young age that America is horrible. They have rap songs where they reference destroying the twin towers. The have a picture of the statue of liberty that is in the shape of a skull. The propaganda makes me a little angry because of the untrue statements about America. I cant believe that people believe what it being said. I never knew that songs were made and people preached to destroy America.
Obsession
The video says that the people who do commit suicide bombings do not want t see dead bodies or just kill people, but they are fighting their religion. The video estimates that 10-15 percent are in support of terrorist groups, but the percentage of people that are anti-American are much larger. The terrorist groups are fighting for Allah They are killing for Allah and dying for Allah. It is hard to believe that they are only killing for their religion because I cant understand how someone could kill so many people just to honor their religion or why the Jihad thinks that Americans are dishonoring their religion. Do you think that there can be an end to the terrorism when it goes against their religion and after we saw kids supporting the Jihad in the video? I think not because those kids are going to grow up and support the group. The religion is very strict and it seems as if everyone there would die for Allah.
Obsession-Introduction
It was interesting to see the terrorist attacks on America and other nations. They showed the scenes in a way I had never seen before. They show the attack and the aftermath. I had never seen any footage that was that close up with firefighters and inside the buildings. I had not heard about many attacks on other nations but they show that terrorism happens all around the world. The introduction to the video was good because they stated that the video is specifically about the terrorist groups and not just all Islamic people. I think that it was very important that they stated it so people do not get the impression that all Islamic people are bad or are terrorists.
